Summer's end

Can you believe that summer is almost over? How crazy is that? It seems like we spend all year waiting for June, July and August and before you know it, Labor Day is just around the corner. I really have got to figure out a way to make the summer months slow down because it seems as though January and February take forever to get through. Ok, that's the end of my "summer is almost over" rant.

I loved Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I'm so sad that it's all over. I think I sobbed through the last 200 pages just because I knew that it would come to an end. Yes, I'm a dork. I openly admit that and am surprisingly okay with it.

With the end of summer comes Cassidy's birthday. She's going to be 7 on Sunday. I honestly have a hard time believing she is so old. I remember the day she was born like it was yesterday and now I'm planning her 7th birthday party. Tomorrow she'll be 18 and moving out. Somebody stop the madness! Anyways, we're going to Let's Play for her party. It's this really cool indoor jungle gym and arcade place that is just way too much fun. I love it b/c adults can play too. And seriously, what 27 year old does not want to jump into a great big ball pit? So amongst other things, I bought her High School Musical for her birthday. Now, I'm not so sure that was a good idea because I'm going to be walking around singing Breaking Free for the next 3 months. Oh well, it's still a cute movie. A bit cheesy and waaayyyyy to Disney perfect, but cute nonetheless.

Ball season is almost over, finally. I love playing ball and am always itching to get back on the diamonds starting in November, but I'm getting tired. However, my slo-pitch team only has one game left next Tuesday for the league championship. That's kind of exciting. I say kind of exciting, because I still have a hard time saying that slo-pitch is a real sport. Fastball and baseball, absolutely. Slo-pitch....not so much. And I just don't get those teams that take it oh-so-seriously and don't even crack a smile while they're playing. Like come on, it's slo-pitch! Any sport that you play better after a few drinks does not qualify as a real sport. My fastball team is done for the year now. We finished 4th in our league after a tension filled play-off series that involved me getting kicked in the face by a runner sliding into home. The dangers of being a pitcher.

Hmmmmm. Not much else is going on. I'm glad to have my girl back from Saskatchewan. We're pretty lucky that we had so much time to visit with friends and family this summer. It was nice. We'll have to do it more often. As we were driving to my ball game last night, Cassidy asked me if I missed my friend. I asked her what friend? She said the friend that we had a sleepover with in Saskatoon. For some reason, she couldn't remember Leah's name. So I told her that yes, of course I missed my friend. And then she asked if we were ever going to see her again. So I'm taking that as a hint that we don't go back home nearly enough. I will do my best to change that.

I'm off to Jamaica in 3 months!!! So excited. And I still have 40 minutes left before I can go home for the day but I don't think I can ramble on about nothing for that long. So, I'll go now and see if anything new has happened on People.com in the last hour.

Bye!
Megan

Hooray! I love being missed. I love that Cass had fun here. Not that we have to wait until next year to see eachother again but just so you know that we are planning a banff trip for next year and hoping to stop in Calgary for a couple of nights (if only we had a place to stay)
